2008 MergingArts Short Short Story Film Festival
Please note submissions are now closed for 2008.
Submission Guidelines
First, as a courtesy to filmmakers, we do not charge a submission fee!
We require two DVD copies (one for backup). We accept all Regions of both NTSC and PAL, though NTSC Region 1 is preferred.
Films must be 5 minutes and under, as follows: credits must start by 5 minutes, and the total running time including credits must be no longer than 5 minutes 30 seconds.
All films must tell a story; this excludes public service announcements, trailers, non-narrative experimental pieces, and such. Whether a piece is truly narrative is at the discretion of the submission review panel.
All genres and styles are accepted, including live action, documentaries, animation, drama, comedy, children’s films, science fiction, fantasy, horror, etc.
In rare instances, more than one film by a filmmaker may be accepted. Typically, this occurs for very short (a minute or so) pieces, or pieces of exceptional quality that are differing styles, looks, etc.
There will be an audience award for the traveling sites of the festival.
Awards will be given to winners in unique categories such as Heartstrings and Soul of Wit Awards.
Unless otherwise indicated, all films are eligible for any awards. Award categories are subject to change based on the nature of films submitted. See the 2007 list of award winners here.
Filmmakers accepted into the festival are encouraged to prepare a brief video introduction (approximately one-minute) of themselves and their film.
If you have questions, we recommend you contact us before submitting.
